The 3 Counties Netball League was founded in 2025 to give junior netballers a friendly, well-run development league close to home. Our name reflects our member clubs, which come from Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, with teams from Year 5 to Year 13. Matches are played on Sundays at the Knox Johnston Sports Centre in Berkhamsted.
All matches are played under England Netball and Hertfordshire Netball rules. As a development league, our rules are designed to keep games competitive and fair. For example, teams that build a large lead move players into new positions, so everyone gets the chance to develop. Players who regularly compete at performance level (such as county, academy or regional netball) aren't eligible, keeping the league focused on development.
We're equally committed to developing umpires. Every team provides an umpire for its matches, giving young umpires valuable experience in a supportive setting.
The safety and wellbeing of our young players and umpires comes first. All clubs follow England Netball's safeguarding policies, and every team is accompanied by a DBS-checked coach or team manager.
If you have a concern about a child's welfare, speak to your club's Welfare Officer or contact the league Safeguarding Officer at safeguarding@3cnl.net. In an emergency, call 999.
Most issues can be resolved informally on the day, so please speak to your team coach or a league official. If that doesn't resolve it, you can make a formal complaint in writing to secretary@3cnl.net within 5 working days of the incident. We'll acknowledge it within 7 days. Full details are in our Competition Rules.
We play most Sundays starting in September through to July
